Willie Eugene Brown, Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, departed this world on May 31, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on December 23, 1934, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Willie graced this earth with his presence, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Willie was the beloved son of John and Arzella Brown, who preceded him in death. His childhood was marked by the love and camaraderie shared with his siblings, Arthur, John, Lawrence, Randall, and Helen, who have also since passed on. Willie was a devoted family man, and his legacy continues through his surviving brother, Robert, who shares in the fond memories of their upbringing. Willie is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
In May of 1953, Willie married the love of his life, Wanda Jean Foote. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared over seven decades of love, laughter, and companionship. Wanda was his steadfast partner, and together they nurtured a family that would grow to include five sons: Willie (Peg), Bobby, Darrell (Suzanne), and Marlon (Tonya). Predeceased by his son, Reggie, and a grandson and two great-grandsons. Willie found solace and joy in the enduring bonds of family.
Willie's family expanded to include 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He was a proud spectator of their achievements, especially enjoying the moments spent watching his sons participate in high school sports. An avid sports enthusiast, Willie was a dedicated fan of the Wichita Shockers basketball team and the Kansas City Chiefs, cheering them on with unmatched passion and enthusiasm.
Known for his wit and welcoming charm, Willie had an innate ability to make those around him feel at ease. His humor and warmth were the hallmarks of his personality, and he possessed a rare gift for brightening even the darkest of days. His laughter and stories will be dearly missed, but the memories he created will forever be cherished.
In this time of reflection and remembrance, the Brown family extends their heartfelt gratitude to St. Francis Hospice for the compassionate care they provided in Willie's final days. Their support brought comfort to Willie and his family, allowing them to focus on celebrating a life well-lived.
As we bid farewell to Willie Eugene Brown, Sr., we honor his memory by embracing the lessons he imparted: to live with joy, to love unconditionally, and to cherish the time spent with those we hold dear. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will remain alive in our hearts, guiding us with the wisdom and love he so generously bestowed.
