Warren David
Finley
Apr 17, 1955 — Sep 11, 2026
Mr. Warren David Finley passed away at home on Friday, September 11, 2026 in Wichita, Kansas. He was the seventh child of eleven siblings, and the second son of Ira C. Finley, Jr. and Betty G. (Davis) Finley. Warren was born on April 17, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas and grew up in a loving household where he witnessed the love and values of family, and the importance of God being first in everything to achieve without any limitations. At an early age he developed strong roots in his Christian education at home, attending church every Sunday along with his siblings to Tabernacle Baptist Church in Wichita. Warren surely had some challenges being the second son – learning lifelong lessons not only from his parents, but also from his senior sisters, and notably his senior brother Ira C. “Chuck” Finley, III. He attended Dunbar Elementary School and graduated from Southeast High School in 1973.
Upon graduating from high school, Warren attended Wichita State University as a student enrolled in the Upward Bound Program. In the late 70’s, he relocated to Oakland, California joining other family members living there, and worked as a UPS loader at Airport Sunrise Ramp in Oakland for many years, and retired in 2015. Many years later he and his wife relocated back to Wichita in 2020 and made it their home, however Dorothy Finley died in 2026. Whenever Warren smiled, it was in a quiet & inquisitive manner, and he loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ira C. Finley, Jr., two sisters (Jean Marie Embray & Joyce Ann Durrett) and two brothers (Ira “Chuck” Finley III & Bryan Edward Finley). He leaves to cherish his memories: five sisters, Shirley J. Jacques, Wichita, KS; Wanda D. Finley, Wichita, KS; Yvonne E. Finley, El Sobrante, CA; Cherie Finley-Osu (Tony), Wichita, KS; Vivian R. Long, Graham, WA; one brother Kenneth W. Finley (Regina), Vallejo, CA.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026 at 12 Noon to 2 pm at Old Mission Mortuary located at 3424 E. 21st Street North, Wichita, KS. Flowers can be sent to Old Mission Mortuary in care of Shirley J. Jacques.
