Verlina Jones was born on February 29, 1940 in Muskogee, Ok. She was one of 7 children born to Robert and Luvenia Williams.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters Louise and Flora; her brother Arthur, and her son, Leo Jones Jr.
Verlina was a homemaker and devoted mother who loved raising kids. She also often baby sat for family members.
Verlina lived a private life and had a quiet personality. Although quiet, she had no problem being straight forward or speaking out about things she felt you needed to hear.
Her children remember her reading the bible faithfully and sharing bible stories with them when they were young.
They also remember her sense of humor when playing games like Monopoly or Uno. She was creative in her strategies to win and was sarcastically sweet when sending you to jail, and making you draw cards or loose a turn.
Verlina, also known as Mama, Gran Gran, Verl and Aunt Verl departed this life on January 16, 2012; just shy of her 18th leap year birthday.
