IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thelma
Treat
September 16, 1934 – March 10, 2024
Thelma B. "Dean" Treat was born in Heart, Arkansas on
September 16, 1934 to Farce and Annie Phelps. Raised
near Salem, Arkansas, she was at home with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her
brothers Mervin and Roy in addition to her sisters Bernice,
Omie, and Nova Jean. She is survived by her brother Willis
and her sister Faye.
Dean moved to Wichita, KS and met her husband J.C. Treat
and started a family. As a homemaker, she had 5 children.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Sheila and
survived by her sons Michael, Jack, Jerry, and Kenneth.
She also had one child that did not survive birth.
Her family also included 10 grandchildren and numerous
great-grandchildren.
Mom loved to cook for all her kids and on many occasions,
their friends too. Breakfast seemed to be her busiest as she
was known as a short order cook. It seemed like everybody
that her kids brought home, were somehow hers also.
Perhaps one of her greatest traits that showed her love for
people was that she could overlook any flaws in an
individual and always find the good in them. It is that trait
that we all hold most dear.
