Our beloved Thelma Phillips, was born on May 13, 1919 to Bernard and Emma Taylor. She is the last survivor of the eleven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Taylor. She departed this life on Thursday, June 23, 2011.
Mrs. Phillips graduated from North High in 1938, and she studied for one year at Friends University. Shortly thereafter, she met and married Cleophas Phillips. The couple celebrated 50+ years of marriage before he preceded her in death. Mrs. Phillips retired from Boeing Aircraft Company some time in the 80s.
She has served as a cheerful inspiration to all who came to know her. She loved people, especially children, and she dedicated a good portion of her life to caring her children.
Leaving to cherish her memory and to mourn her loss are her children Karen Ware, Cleophas Phillips, Jr. and Allelia A. Freeman. Her five grandchildren are Brian Ware, LaShonda Redd, Rebecca Lorance, Tanika Freeman, and Jamari Ballard. There are also eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Phillips leaves behind a host of family and friends who loved and respected her. She will be greatly missed by all.
Memorial services will be held at Old Mission Mortuary on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
