IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon Kay
Mccampbell
April 15, 1945 – October 7, 2019
Sharon Kay (Stearns) McCampbell, 74, passed away October 7, 2019. She was born in Wichita, KS on April 15, 1945. As the only child of Percy Adair and Mary Ellen Stearns, who loved and adored her, they made sure that she would grow to be a loving wife and mother to her sons as well as caring for many others. She attended Wichita East High School where she was very socially active as well as a member of the school orchestra, choir, and drama departments. East High is where she would meet the love of her life and true companion, Keith F. McCampbell.
Sharon attended the Oklahoma College for Women focusing on Business and later married Keith. With Keith by her side, she would meet every challenge head-on with a smile and love in her heart. Whether she was living in Kansas, Washington D.C., Texas, or Utah, she always found a way to make home truly where the heart is. She also shared the love for children with so many others as she worked with the Boy Scouts of America, youth soccer groups, youth hockey groups, supporting her sons, their friends and teammates in their academic, athletic, and life endeavors. Sharon's desire to care and support for others led to her joining the PTA and becoming PTA President for a large high school in Texas. She also joined the local Service League and was very involved in their annual Music Festival fund raiser. She became very active with Boy Scouts, completing the highly respected Wood Badge training and being recognized by the boys and her peers with induction into the Order of the Arrow. Sharon was a life-long "giver," being on the regular and emergency call lists for both blood and platelet donors with the American Red Cross where ever she called home.
Sharon is preceded in death by her loving parents Percy A. and Mary Ellen Stearns. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Keith F. McCampbell; two sons, Cameron A. (Christine) McCampbell of Burke, VA & Trevor K. (Indika) McCampbell of Overland Park, KS; and two grandchildren Connor A. & Cennagh A. McCampbell.
