IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruby
Kaelson-Pike
December 28, 1920 – January 15, 2023
Ruby Katherine Walker was born December 28, 1920, in Woodward, Oklahoma. In 1925, she moved to Wichita, Kansas, with her parents, Annie and Maurice Walker, and her brother, Billy Maurice Walker.
Ruby attended public school in Wichita and graduated from East High School in 1938. She received degrees in English and French from Friends University and became involved in the Delta Rho Sorority. She enjoyed many of her college relationships for decades beyond.
After college she wanted to go to France but World War II would change this. In 1942, she started working at TWA where she remained for three years. This airline experience would become very valuable years later.
She married Paul A. Kaelson Jr. in 1945. They had four daughters and a son. Once again, Ruby maintained an active social life playing a lot of bridge with friends and planning family trips.
In 1974, she started a successful travel agency, Traveltime Inc. She enjoyed writing poetry and published a book of her memoirs in 2004.
Ruby married Gerald W. Pike, a long time friend and lovely man in 1993. They shared many wonderful years until his passing in 2010.
Ruby is survived by her four daughters, Kaye (Steven) Martin, Elizabeth Kaelson, Frances Mayer and Carol Kaelson and a son, Gary Kaelson.
Also her six grandchildren: Damon (Angie) Martin, Christopher (Melissa) Martin, Laura Martin (John Gray), Katherine Mayer, Stephen Mayer (Audri) and Christina (Paul) Williamson, and her twelve great-grandchildren: Tucker, Meadow, Joel, Kellen, Stella, Lennox, Margot, Greta, Lottie, Jack, Bennett and Matilda.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Larksfield Assisted Living and the Faith Home Health & Hospice for their loving care and dedication.
