Obituary

Rowena "Kay" Hyson passed with peace and grace on August 14 th , 2019, with her family at her side. Preceded by her loving husband Harold in 2010.  She is survived by her son Steve (Amy) Hyson, daughter Tonya (James) Malicoat; grandchildren: Josh (Tasha) Schmeidler, Ashley (Jason) Schmeidler, Krystal Aldrich, Nathan (Kristen) Hyson, Aydan Doty; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Kay was born on Oct. 5th, 1948 in Denver, CO and moved to Kansas as a young woman. She met the love of her life, Harold, when she was only 13!  In 1964, they married and spent the next 46 years raising their kids and grandchildren, enjoying camping, fishing, racing, and especially their friends. Kay always considered her friends as family. She never met a stranger and you always left a visit with her with a smile on your face and laughter in your heart. She will always be remembered as a fun, loving woman who touched so many lives in so many ways and whose greatest passion was her family.

A service will be held at Old Mission Mortuary, 3424 E 21st St N, Wichita, KS, on August 17th at 11am.  Interment at White Chapel Cemetery.  The family wishes to thank Phoenix Home Health & Hospice for their care.  Kay loved her cats very much and would like all donations in her name to be made to Wichita Animal Action League (WAAL). She left her friends and family rich in memories.
