IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald
Hunt
February 1, 1953 – October 6, 2025
Ronald Eugene Hunt was born in Fort Worth, Texas on February 1, 1953 to Wilbert Hunt, Jr. and Elnita Wilson Hunt.
Ronald began his elementary education in Fort Worth. When his family relocated to Wichita, Kansas in October 1961, Ronald attended Dunbar, then finished his elementary education at L'Overture. He attended Horace Mann Jr High, then completed his high school education at Wichita High School North in 1971. Ronald also attended Wichita State University for one year, as he chased his dream to become a professional football player.
Ronald really loved the game of football. He was an outstanding player in high school and earned the nickname "Smokey" while attending North High. He was ecstatic to see himself as the subject of write-ups in the local newspapers, noting his prowess in football. After high school, he played for a local team for a short time.
Ronald married Julie Burdine, and three children were born to this union.
Ronald moved back to Fort Worth for a few years, and made many life-long friends there. He returned to Wichita to help care for his ailing mother. As Ronald's health began to deteriorate, he decided to remain in Wichita to be with family.
Ronald loved football, family, and food! Nothing made him happier than watching a football game with a big old plate of finger foods!
Ronald leaves five children to cherish his memory: Ronald, Russell, Raymond, Richard and Russchelle, 13 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren, as well as his siblings Barbara Relf, Jeanie Lee, Sharon Harris and Anita Hunt, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and long time family friends.
Ronald was preceded in death by parents, Wilbert and Elnita Hunt and brothers Michael, Wilbert Emmanuel, and Wilbert Ray (infant)
As per his wishes cremation has taken place.
