Obituary

Roberto Del Garcia was called home to be with the Lord, Friday, January 8, 2021, leaving a lasting legacy of Faith, Family and Service. Roberto was born in Wichita, Kansas, October 23, 1958, to Lawrence and Carolyn Garcia. Roberto, along with his sister, Gina, grew up in Tabernacle Baptist Church and attended Wichita public schools where he graduated from Heights High School. For 27-years Roberto chose a path of public service as a Wichita Firefighter. Several of those years were spent under the leadership of his father Chief Lawrence D. Garcia.
Roberto would be the first to tell you, he was one of the sheep who wandered away for a few years. That's what makes his store so dynamic. He wasn't afraid to let you know how God changed his life. Maybe that's why the 23rd Psalms was his favorite. The Lord is my Shepard. He knew that no matter where he was, God had him covered. Once Roberto decided to leave his old life behind, he re-dedicated his life to serving the Lord… full time… above all else. Roberto answered his call to serve by: Teaching Sunday school, singing in the Men's choir, serving in the Youth Detention Ministry, visiting church members as a Deacon, and serving as a mentor/friend to many men and boys across Wichita. Roberto was a Big Bro to so many people who will dearly miss his words of wisdom and his generosity.
Like a true Garcia, Roberto loved to work with his hands. In fact, he had the tool – man outfit to go with his work. He'd be out in that pristine yard, or the garage, working away in those overalls enjoying life. Roberto was an avid outdoorsman, who had a knack for knowing just where the fish were biting. He knew how to make anything grow, and had one of the most beautiful yards in town. However, if you really knew Roberto, you know he was passionate about golf.
In 2005, Roberto received favor from the Lord, when he found and married his good thing, Queen Traci. Roberto and Traci loved spending time together rooted in a shared loved of God, service, family, friends and fishing. Roberto will be remembered as a caring, wise and hands on father and grandfather. Although he did not play, Roberto's children knew how much he loved them and had their backs. As a proud grandfather, Roberto was babysitter, chef, playmate and all around hangout buddy to his grandchildren.
Roberto shared a life of service, led by God, with his entire family, whom he leaves to continue God's work: wife, Traci Garcia; children, Erin Avant (Justin), Lexington and Keeman Garcia; grandchildren, Jrue Avant and Yamir Garcia; mother, Carolyn Garcia, (Father Lawrence "Larry" Garcia preceded him in death); sister, Gina McIntosh and nephews Byron McIntosh, Jr. and Austin McIntosh; Tabernacle Bible Church Family and a host of relatives and friends.
