IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Regina
Foust
January 12, 1949 – August 29, 2021
Regina Kay Foust was born on January 12, 1949, in Wichita, Kansas to loving parents Lester
Thomas Foust and Jessie Lorance Foust. Regina attended L'Ouverture Elementary and
Mathewson Junior High for her early education and graduated from Wichita East High
School. While at East, she played flute with the concert and pep bands, also achieving high
honors in competitions.
Following in her mother's footsteps, Regina matriculated to Wichita State University,
majoring in Education. While at Wichita State, Regina was a charter member of Zeta Beta
chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. After graduating with a Batchelor of Arts in 1970,
Regina took her first position with USD 259, as a teacher at Benton Elementary. Over her 39-
year career, Regina taught hundreds of students, primarily in English and Reading, but in
1983, she returned to WSU to earn her master's degree in Education with a focus on
counseling. From that point, she held positions at Horace Mann Middle School, Robinson
Middle School, and finally West High School, where she retired as a guidance counselor in
2008.
As an educator, Regina took pride in being able to help her students, no matter the capacity
required. From taking a student home after school, buying prom or homecoming dresses,
helping to fill out scholarship forms or giving them a "real deal" conversation when they
were sent to her office by a teacher, she did whatever she could to help them achieve and
succeed. In honor of her passion, Regina earned the Crystal Apple Award, which is given
to an exceptional staff member by the graduating senior class at West High. After her
retirement, Regina continued to share herself with young people by substituting part time
with USD 259 and participating in summer programs with WSU Trio and the Boys and Girls
Club.
Regina loved the Lord and was baptized at an early age. She attended Brotherhood
Presbyterian Church in Wichita until moving to the Atlanta Area in 2013. In Atlanta, Regina
frequently attended services at First Baptist Atlanta, but enjoyed being the guest of extended
family at their home churches.
In 2013, she decided to try a new adventure, and moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area to
spend more time with her daughter Amber and extended family. Regina enjoyed life in
Atlanta by going to various cultural events and restaurants whenever possible. She
continued to be a devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta and active with the MariettaRoswell Chapter. Regina was always up for a travelling as well. She took every opportunity
to go on a trip, be it an hour away or a cruise in the Caribbean.
Regina leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Amber Marie Foust of Norcross, GA,
Aunt Ruth Lorance of Wichita, KS along with cousins, special nieces and nephews, and host
of friends near and far.
