Obituary

Philip Ray Lorenz, beloved brother, and father went to his heavenly home on January 3, 2026. He was born on March 8, 1952, in Wichita, Kansas, to his parents, Maurice and Jane Lorenz.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Marcine and Jane Lorenz, and by his older sister, Kristie Patton.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sarah Lorenz and Stacy Dwiggins (Austin); his younger brother, Kent Lorenz (Kathy); and other extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Philip grew up in Wichita, Kansas, where he graduated from Southeast High School. He continued his education at Hutchinson Junior College and Wichita State University, majoring in Art and History—subjects that remained lifelong passions. His love of history extended from biblical archeology which deepened his faith to his own family genealogy, which he researched with great enthusiasm.

He dedicated 42 years of service to Boeing and Spirit AeroSystems, retiring in 2016. His career reflected his strong work ethic, loyalty, and pride in craftsmanship.

Philip lived life with curiosity and adventure. As an avid skydiver, he accomplished multiple achievements which included completing over 1,100 skydive jumps receiving his Gold Wings, had lifetime membership of the United States Parachute Memberships Associations and earned his B.A.S.E. number in 1986, completing all four types of jumps—Building, Antenna, Span, and Earth. A testament to his fearless spirit and love of the sky that he passed down to his daughters.

Later in life, he worked closely with the Museum of World Treasures, collecting and dealing with antiquities, combining his professional knowledge with his deep appreciation for history. He was also an active member of several Corvette clubs, including National Corvette Restorative Society (NCRS), South Winds Corvette Club, and Air Capitol Corvette Club: as well as enjoyed his involvement with The Pond Society.

Family will have a private burial service. A memorial skydiving jump in honor of Philip that will be scheduled at a later date for friends and family to attend. Details will be shared once arrangements are finalized.

Philip will be remembered for his intelligence, passion for learning, adventurous nature, and dedication to his family and interests. His legacy lives on through his daughters and all those whose lives he touched.
