Pharrell Joe Poynter, 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, and is reunited in heaven with his soulmate, JoAnn Poynter. Joe and JoAnn were married for 45 years until her death in November 1998.
Joe worked over four decades in telecommunications as a technician and manager with Southwestern Bell, AT&T, and Boeing; he was respected by his customers and coworkers alike. After his retirement, Joe loved boating, fishing, and jet-skiing at Table Rock Lake with friends and family.
Preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Poynter and grandson, Daniel Poynter.
Survived by his children, David Poynter (Teri), Duane Poynter (Jill), Daryl Poynter, and Debbie Botefur (Kirk); grandchildren Evan Partin (Shannon), Justin Bradley (Nicole Carr), Jason Bradley, Jennifer Okpara (Nnanna), Courtney Patton (Bobby), Devyn Poynter, Jillian White (Cale), Alexandrea Poynter (Alex Dinicola, fiancée), and Brooke Poynter (Aaron Engels, fiancée); great-grandchildren Johnnie Bradley, Wicks Patton, Emma Poynter, Zola Okpara, Ziyah Okpara, and Beau Patton; and his second wife of 10 years, Karen Rhyne.
Joe crossed the rainbow bridge to reunite with his beloved dogs: Tippy, Susie, Dolly, Duke, Cassie, Sir, and Brianna.
Memorial has been established with Larksfield Place Foundation, 7373 E 29th St North, Wichita, KS 67226.
Graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 20 at Old Mission Cemetery (3424 E. 21 st St N) followed by a Celebration of Life.
