IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul E.
Rimel
September 8, 1937 – December 22, 2017
Paul E. "Bud" Rimel, Jr. went home to heaven Friday evening, December 22, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. He was born September 8, 1937 at Memorial Hospital in West Chester, PA. He was the first born son of Paul E. Rimel Sr. and Emmarean Benge Rimel. At the age of 4, he went to live with his paternal grandparents, Guy and Anna Rimel. He grew up there on the Blue Rock Farm (a large dairy farm) located along the historical Brandywine River. Bud graduated from West Chester Joint Senior High in 1955. After high school he attended West Chester State Teacher's College for 1 year, where he was studying to be a coach. He quit college to get married to Marilyn McCauley in 1956. They had two children, Paul and Cynthia.
On October 2, 1964 he married Eva Mae Adams who already had two children, John and Kim. They had one son together, Troy. Later, Bud adopted Kim.
Bud worked many different jobs from running a gas station, working on his grandparent's dairy farm, working at Eachus Dairy, and UPS. After breaking his achilles tendon in a UPS basketball game, he left UPS and went to work at Stoney Creek Rescue Squad in Rocky Mount, NC where he was already a volunteer. He became Chief of the Squad in 1973. He was also an instructor for the Red Cross. In May of 1975, Bud accepted the Lord as his Saviour, and decided to move to Greenville, SC in 1976 to attend Bob Jones University and study the Bible. His love for rescue work never died, however, and he became the head of the BJU Security Department. He also worked with the Red Cross, Greenville County EMS, and the Greenville Police Department. In the spring of 1997 he went on medical disability and moved to Wichita, Kansas with his daughter, Kim and family, where he was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. His favorite hymns were "It is Well with My Soul" and "How Great Thou Art."
Bud is survived by his wife Eva Mae Rimel, three brothers, three sisters, his children; W. John Rust, Paul E. Rimel, III, Cynthia Diane Pigott, Kim R. Schoneweis, and Troy Ira Rimel, 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Cornerstone Baptist Church building fund.
