Patricia Ann Couger, 88, passed away in Bel Aire, Kansas, July 15, 2022. She was born December 13, 1933, the only child, to Raymond Peter Couger and Marie Elizabeth (Larson) Couger. Patricia was a graduate of Wichita State University and became a Mathematics Instructor, later Professor, at WSU and Butler Community College, retiring in 1999. She was an active leader throughout her life, as student she was the President of the Math Club, active in the Student Forum Board and Independent Students Association. At Butler she served as the faculty president and founded and directed the Employees Scholarship Fund for 20 years. She is recognized as the Master Teacher by the BCC Education Association as an faculty member who exemplifies the qualities of student engagement, scholarship, exemplary teaching ability and service to the college and service to the Association. Patricia volunteered for the Wichita River Festival, KPTS and KMUW; Great Plains Nature Center and the Wichita Art Museum, and as a board member of the Friends of the Wichita Art Museum. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling with and companionship of Richard Minkler, until his passing in 2012. She was a life long learner and enjoyed the arts, being in nature, reading and traveling.
Memorial donations may be made to the Butler Community College Endowment Association in Patricia's Name.
