Opal Joyce Hadley was born on February 29, 1936 in String town, Oklahoma to Dewitt and Leo Doretha Hadley. She was the fourth child born to this union. She received her formal education in the Oklahoma school system, graduating in June of 1952 from Atoka High School. Upon graduation from high school, Opal moved to Kansas where she met and married Minilink Collins. To this union, one child, Margie, was born. They later moved to Denver, Colorado where they eventually dissolved their union. Opal, affectionately known as Joyce, remained in Colorado where she gained employment with the State of Colorado. She worked with the State for 37 years before retiring. Opal played softball and was an avid bowler. She loved to travel, whether it be for bowling or for her pleasure. She also went on several cruises. Through bowling, she met and later married Walter R. Collins Jr. Although there were no children born to this union, Opal inherited another daughter, Mary and two sons Walter the third, and Michael well as a granddaughter, Carlotta. She would later have 4 more granddaughters, Kelli, Shashawndra, Shawndrella and Shawntwanae. Opal loved life and everything about it. She ensured that there were regular family gatherings where she would prepare all kinds of food and took many photographs.
