IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Odell
Mcclellan
October 26, 1937 – January 24, 2022
Odell McClellan was born October 26, 1937, in Geary,
Oklahoma. He was the fifth child of seven children born to
Maymie and Zachariah (Tiny) McClellan. Odell graduated and
received his high school diploma from Douglas High School in
Geary, Oklahoma.
Once out of high school, Odell made the decision to serve
his country by joining the United States Navy. Odell was stationed
in San Diego, California where he was surrounded by water and
fresh air. Odell had the opportunity to travel and see the world
until he closed that chapter to start a new chapter. Odell was a hard
worker and touched many lives. Odell was blessed to work for
Jones Inc., Prestige Bus, USD259 Transportation, and finally
ended his career journey when he retired from Bank IV.
Odell was extremely close to his siblings and their bond
remained that way until his dying day. Odell's family was
extremely important to him, and he would make it a point to be
there whenever they needed him. Odell found joy when taking
road trips to Oklahoma with his brothers and sisters. Odell's love
and passion for antique cars were contagious to those around him.
He would always sit outside his house and would love to talk about
antique cars which he collected.
Odell accepted Christ at a young age in Geary, Oklahoma.
After moving to Wichita, Kansas he attended several
congregations before finding his church home at North Ash
Church of the Nazarene. He was a faithful member and attended
Sunday services until he was unable to attend. He was an active
member of the church and served as a trustee. Throughout his life,
Odell would have daily talks with the Lord and his faith was
unwavering. He has left us a good example of patience in
suffering. He was especially thankful for the reassurance God
granted to him one evening last January when he heard his name
called by a heavenly voice.
Preceding Odell in death are his parents: Maymie and
Zachariah (Tiny) McClellan; three sisters: Clester O. McClellan,
Ruby J. Collins, and Erniece Moore; two brothers: Elbert (Buddy)
McClellan and Melvin McClellan. Odell is survived by his sister:
Johnnie Stiff as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends.
