Norma Lee Morgan, age 91, of Wichita passed away peacefully in Mount Vernon, Washington on Sunday, June 17, 2018. Norma was born in Wichita, Kansas where she grew up with her twin sister and two older brothers. Norma graduated from Wichita North High School in 1944, and then graduated from Wichita State University in 1948 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She met Walter Morgan while at college. Walt and Norma married in Wichita on January 23, 1949. They adopted and raised a son, Thomas Allen Morgan, and a daughter, Sue Marie Morgan Henson.
Norma was a wonderful elementary school teacher for 41 years in Wichita, dedicating her life to be a positive influence on thousands of students over the years. She earned a Master's Degree in Education in 1972. She was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and participated in the church's ESL program and with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She enjoyed making crafts including annual Christmas ornaments, and countless other keepsakes. Norma was known fondly as a gentle soul, who cherished her family, and laughed often.
Norma is survived by her nephews, Bill Stiles III of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, Bob Stiles of Marysville, Washington, Brian Stiles of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, Bret Stiles of Zillah, Washington, Brock Stiles of Sedro-Woolley, Washington; niece Becky Adams of Sedro-Woolley, Washington; her first cousins, Johnny Boldenow of Wichita, Bill Boldenow of Hutchison, Bonnie Black of Topeka, Gary Boldenow of Salina, Sondra Boldenow of Washington State, James Boldenow of Newton, and Marlene Skinner of Newton; as well as extended family, numerous friends, and former students.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Walt, her son Thomas, her daughter Sue, her parents Joe and Ida Brock, her brothers Joe Brock Jr. and Merle Brock who were both killed in World War II, and her twin sister Betty Stiles.
The family asks, in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 909 South Market, Wichita KS 67211.
