IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norma
Frazier
December 29, 1934 – December 23, 2024
Norma Joan Frazier (Diehl), a devoted wife, mother, Grammy, and Great-Grammy, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, surrounded by her family in Wichita, Kansas.
Born on December 29, 1934, in Wichita, Kansas, Norma was the cherished eldest of three sisters. She graduated from North High School before attending Wichita State University, where she earned her degree. On September 1, 1955, she married the love of her life, Harry J. Frazier, Jr., and together they built a life full of love, adventure, and shared dreams.
Shortly after their wedding, Norma embarked on a solo journey to New York City before traveling by ship to join Harry, who was stationed in Europe with the Army. Together, they embraced the adventure of military life, skiing the Alps, gliding on Venetian gondolas, and exploring Europe's wonders.
Returning to Wichita, Norma embraced her roles as a devoted mother and homemaker. She dedicated herself to nurturing her family while also giving back to her community. She served as a Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, Meals on Wheels driver, and was renowned for her legendary chocolate chip cookies. She also worked as a math paraprofessional with Wichita Public Schools, where her kindness and patience touched countless lives.
Norma found joy in attending Shocker basketball games with Harry and shared her passion for culture by volunteering at the Wichita Art Museum, the Botanical Gardens, and Music Theatre Wichita—activities she lovingly introduced to her family, who continue to cherish them.
Above all, Norma treasured the family's cabin in Shell Knob, Missouri, where she created countless memories filled with laughter and love. Her courage, perseverance, patience, and kindness left a lasting legacy on all who knew her.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Franklin and Thelma Lucille (Crites) Diehl; her beloved husband of over 50 years, Harry J. Frazier, Jr.; her son, Howard J. Frazier; and her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Kenny McGrew.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan J. Walters (J. Patrick); her grandchildren, Jenny of Dallas, TX, Tyler (Lindy), Kassie (Bryce), Valerie (Chris), and Nicole, all of Wichita, and Jacque (Kelly) of Kansas City; her great-grandchildren, Tegan, Addilyn, Carter, Koa, Emmett, and Michael, all of Wichita; and her sister, Darlene Young (Craig).
The family expresses their deep gratitude to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and suggests contributions in Norma's memory to: Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
