IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nora
Magness
December 20, 1933 – September 3, 2024
Nora J. Magness was born in Fairview, OK on 12/20/33 to Gene Harris and Nora Mc Cormick. She passed away peacefully on 09/03/2024 in her home in Wichita, KS.
Growing up on her grandparents' farm in rural Jefferson, OK, she cherished her time with her grandmother, helping with the farm chores and caring for the animals. As a young mother and wife juggling three children, Nora and her husband Howard managed to create joyful memories for the family, with weekend trips to Grand Lake, fishing at Cowley County Lake on the family pontoon boat, and evenings playing cards with neighbors, always accompanied by the brownies we shared.
Her favorite hobby was making porcelain dolls. Over the years, she poured the molds, fired, painted, and dressed each doll, taking immense pride in her craftsmanship.
Nora worked at Miraflex, Copeland Hermetics and Edo-Aire. After retiring, she spent time as a Lunch aide at Beech Elementary and dedicated many years to volunteering at St. Joseph Hospital, bringing comfort and care to those in need. Her commitment to hard work and service was truly inspiring.
As we remember her today, we celebrate the life of an extraordinary woman who left an indelible mark on all our hearts. Her strength, humor, and love will continue to inspire us. She taught us the value of perseverance, the importance of family, and the joy of simple pleasures. Her memory will forever guide us, and we are grateful for the time we had with her and look forward to carrying on her legacy!
Nora is survived by her 2 daughters, Vickie Accordino (David) and Sandy Green (Randy), 3 Grandchildren Shana Bean (Mike), Sommer Green and Garrett Green (Lauren), 6 Great Grandchildren Dylan, Taevin and Traxtn Bean, Parker Mc Pherson, Addyson and Conner Green.
She is preceded in death by her husband Howard Magness, son Ron Magness, great grandson Jace Bean, both her parents and sister Doris Lucas.
Services to be held on September 26th, 2024 at 12:30 at New Spring Church, North Auditorium, 12200 E. 21st St N. Wichita, KS.
Old Mission Funeral Home will provide a private family service and Nora's ashes will be laid to rest where she will join her husband Howard.
