Nina Maude Holmes passed away at the age of 87 years on September 19, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital.
Viewing and visitation will take place Tuesday, September 23 at Old Mission Mortuary between 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with family present 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Services will be held at Old Mission Mortuary Chapel Wednesday, September 24 at 1:00 p.m.
Interment in Old Mission Cemetery. She was born October 1, 1920 in Pleasanton, Kansas to Edgar Nathan and Bessie Belle Speakes.
Nina united in marriage to Ned Homes on June 6, 1939 in Mound City, Kansas. Ned preceded her in death on January 4, 2008.
Nina was active in the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and was a member of The Daughters's off the Nile. She was a retired secretary for the USD 259 board Education.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Larry and Janet Holmes, Wichita, Kansas, daughter and son in law, Elaine and Jim Peebler, Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Shanon Ashley, Robin Schemeiski, Jeff and Jason Peebler; great-grandchildren, Amber, D.J., Rebecca, Andrew, Saige, Londen; niece, Kathy Dee Sinclair and other nieces, nephews and relatives.
Memorials have been established with Kansas Masonic Home, 401 South Seneca, Wichita, Kansas 67213, and Midian Plane of Mercy, 130 North Topeka, Wichita, Kansas 67202.
