Mina McKay, age 87, retired owner of Carroll's Caf, passed away May 19, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday, May 22 in Wichita at Old Mission Mortuary officiated by Chaplin Charles Klassen.
Mina Mae Olson was born in Kiowa, KS on June 26, 1927, the second of three girls. Mina was preceded in death by two husbands Calvin Schwennesen and Wayne McKay, and also her parents Ray & Orra Olson. Survivors include sisters Ethel Rugg (Garnett, KS), Donna Schnackenberg (Westwood, KS), daughter Jane Eldridge (Lyle Noodhoek) of Wichita, KS, son John Schwennesen (Cindy) of Ponte Vedra, FL, grandchildren Jill Summers (Stephen) of Smyrna, TN, Jared Schwennesen (Brittni) of Norman, OK, Cale Eldridge (Megan) of Wichita, KS, Sarah Frabasile (Joe) of Hartsdale, NY, great grandchildren Shepherd, Hannah & Hudson, and other very loved family members.
Mina's greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. Spending time with family and friends brought the biggest smile to her face. Her favorite pastimes included cooking, sewing and gardening. Mina's network of family extended to many young adults whom she loved to spend hours visiting with and watch compete in various school activities and sporting events. She was a strong KU basketball fan, loved OU football, and said Paul Pierce was her boy. But in reality Mina cheered loudest for her grandchildren's teams and their accomplishments in life.
Mina was a strong prayer warrior who never missed her nightly prayers for her family and friends. She would share her faith with others and would encourage everyone to take Jesus into their hearts and walk with God daily. The Bible was her favorite book.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in her name to your favorite charity or her favorite, World Challenge, David Wilkerson Ministries at www.worldchallenge.org.
