Michael was born on June 6, 1956, in Wichita KS to Leonard Hughes and Ocie Mae King, Michael attended Wichita, Public schools until twelfth grade at North High School. Michael was very intelligent, clever and an all-around athlete. Michael met Jo Ann Roberts the love of his life and later married and had four daughters and a son. Michael was a very hard worker; he worked over the years in construction and often took odd jobs during the off-season. Michael was multi-talent and loved working with his hands. He was an amazing cook and gardener. He was business minded and an entrepreneur by nature. He also enjoyed writing and researching in his spare time. Michael loved to talk and gave words of wisdom/ encouragement to anyone with a listening ear. Michael was very family-oriented and loved his family above all else. He was easygoing, happy, and brightened up any room with his huge personality. He was kind, thoughtful, and comical all in one lovable package.
Michael Hughes, in his 66th year of life, slipped away on January 03, 2023, to join his parents Ocie Mae King and Leonard Hughes. Brother: Billie King; Sister: Shirley Burks; Son; Megan Dewayne Hughes and Granddaughter Andrea Christensen.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His daughters, Lakisha (Justin) Howard, Ebony Hughes, Lameha Hughes and Joanna Hughes. His Grandchildren, Trianna Reid, Alaceyia Howard, Demetrius Austin Jr., Dashyra Mathenia, Lamya Austin, Damarius Austin, Willie Howard III, Jewel Parker Jr., Sharyiah Smith, Shyvion Smith, Nakayla Parker, Jamieah Smith, Ethan Michael Howard and Autumn Christensen. His Great-Grandchildren, Demetrius Austin III and Stori Austin. A host of nieces, nephews, and family & friends.
The Family would like to express our deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during a very difficult time for our family. Your love and compassion will forever be remembered.
