Banks

Saint Mark Untied Methodist Church
Starts at 11:00 am (Central time)
Maude Stanton Banks was born in Madison, Georgia, on June 12, 1930, to Austin Stanton and Della Cobb. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family under the care of Good Shepherd Hospice, on April 30, 2026.
Maude lived her life with kindness, humility, and love. She was a member of St Mark United Methodist Church and the Women of Faith since the 1970s. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she often gave thanks to God for the opportunity to serve and help within the church and her community.
Maude leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Louis J. Banks Jr. and his wife, Daisy, of Wichita, Kansas, and James A. Banks of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and his partner, Maria; five granddaughters, LaToya, DeAge’a, Shamiece, Shamya, and Shamary; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends from Georgia and beyond.
Her passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in healthcare. She was accepted into a nurse training program at a hospital in Rome, Georgia, later attended college, and became a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
Maude cherished the simple blessings of life and found joy in caring for others. She loved cooking and baking for her family, sewing clothes for her dolls and teddy bears, and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. Additionally, she was a collector of international decorative plates and shot glasses, which adorned her dining room wall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Della Cobb and Austin Stanton; her beloved husband of 54 years, Louis J. Banks Sr.; her son, Kenneth L. Banks; and her siblings, Wesley, Willie, Amos, and Robert Stanton of Madison, Georgia.
