Matthew Joseph Marin was born November 9, 1978 to Robert and Nancy Marin of Wichita, KS. He passed away peacefully at his home in Wichita on July 13, 2024 at age 45 after a long and courageous battle against cancer.
Matt was employed as an ASE certified mechanic at Premier Foods Inc. where he maintained and repaired their fleet of trucks. Prior to that he was employed as a mechanic at Alexander's Automotive Inc. and Donovan Truck & Auto Center.
Following his graduation from Northwest High School in 1997, Matt studied graphic design and photography at Emporia State University and then at Wichita State University.
From building elaborate Lego creations to communicating on his ham radio, Matt was a man of varied interests and talents. As a teen he took up bicycling and participated in Bike Across Kansas as well as other races for charity. Throughout high school and college he exhibited his skills as a talented photographer and artist. Other hobbies included golf and target shooting. Cars and racing were a passion for Matt, and as a young man he was so proud of his Acura Integra. His love of the outdoors inspired him to convert a commercial van into a camper that he and his family often used for camping trips.
Matt married Lisa Joy, the love of his life in 2017, and they blended their families to include two boys.
Matt is survived by his wife Lisa and two sons, Kevan and Jayden. He is also survived by his parents, his brother Rob, sister-in-law Becky and their two children.
Services and a celebration of life will be held at Old Mission Mortuary, 3424 East 21st St. North on Saturday, July 27 at 10:30 a.m.
