Obituary

Marvin Allen Morris was born in Yates Center, Kansas on December 12, 1939 to Onetta Marie Audiss and Kenneth Allen Morris.  Marvin was the oldest of 6 children.  He was active in sports - Football and Baseball - and also worked at a filling station to help support the family.

Shortly after graduating High School he enlisted in the USMC and served for 3 1/2 years; spending time stationed in California and then Hawaii.  It was during this time that he began corresponding with a beautiful redhead from Wichita, Kansas, Isabel Welborn.  They wrote each other prolifically and would see each other when he was home on leave.

Following his honorable discharge from the Marines, Marvin and Isabel were married on December 16, 1961.  They made their home in Wichita Kansas where Marvin began his career as a Police Officer with the Wichita Police Department and served there for over 21 years. During this time, Marvin and Isabel were blessed with three children - Scott Allen, Mona Kay and Katrina Anne.

In addition to his work with the Police Department, Marvin began working as a Security Officer with Boulevard State Bank (Later Union Boulevard National Bank and finally Commerce Bank).  After his retirement from the Police Department, Marvin continued working for the bank and eventually worked in the Corporate Facilities Group overseeing facilities and maintenance for branches in Wichita and around the state.  He retired from Commerce Bank after 41 years of faithful service.

Those who knew Marvin, knew that he loved camping, fishing, woodworking (Marvin made many beautiful pieces still used by friends and family members today), and sports (he always had a game playing on the TV and had a great knowledge of all the players and statistics no matter the sport).  He also loved putting puzzles together and reading.  He spent many hours reading mystery novels, adventure thrillers, police and crime fiction, historical fiction and the like.  In fact, he would often compare notes with friends to see who had read the latest books first.

Most of all he loved his family.  Marvin worked hard to take care of and provide for his family.  He was always concerned that they be taken care of, making sure they had enough money and using his many skills to help them in so many ways. He was always willing to help when someone needed a hand and was personally involved in many a construction or remodel project.

Marvin passed away January 11, 2019 in Tucson, Arizona where he and Isabel moved just a few months ago.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Isabel; Son ,Scott (Laura) of Atlanta, Georgia; Daughter Mona Dollmann (Dale) of Wichita, Kansas; and Daughter Katrina Filener (David) of Tucson, Arizona; 10 Grandchildren and 6 Great-grandchildren.  His presence will be greatly missed.
