Obituary

Martin Loren Whitaker, known to friends and family as "Uncle Marty," passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 20th, 2018, at the age of 93 years.
A native of Wichita, Martin was drafted into the United States Army at the age of 18 years.  He served during World War II and received a Bronze Star medal of honor for saving the life of a fellow soldier.  In 1947, he began his career at KG&E as a meter reader, and retired 43 years later as a leader in the Accounting department.
Martin was a talented pianist who loved music, movies, books, and Asian culture.  He held a passion for plants and flowers and tended to a magnificent garden all of his life.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
