Margie Lou Roehr, 64, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
Born on September 21, 1950 to George A. and Marjorie M. Roehr, Margie was a lifelong Wichita resident. She graduated from Wichita Southeast High School in 1968 and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Wichita State University in May 1972 with a major in mathematics and minor in accounting.
In 1973, Margie went to work in the family advertising specialty business. What began as lending a helping hand in the office during a time of need turned into a permanent job traveling and making sales calls throughout a number of Midwestern states. She pursued this career for many years until her failed health forced her to retire.
Throughout her life, Margie loved flowers. She had a special interest in daylilies and daffodils and her plants produced numerous award-winning blooms over the years. She was an active member of both the Wichita Daylily Society and the Wichita Daffodil Society for over 20 years. She was a dedicated volunteer for both these organizations, serving in officer positions multiple times. For the past several years, among other things she was in charge of the Society's annual fall sale of daffodil bulbs.
Margie was preceded in death by both her parents. She leaves one brother, Richard Goodin of rural Harrison County in Iowa.
A memorial service will be held for Margie at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015 in the chapel of the Old Mission Mausoleum, 3424 E. 21st Street N, Wichita, Kansas 67220.
