Obituary

Ann (90) passed away peacefully on May 27, 2015. She was loved by everyone who knew her and made a big impact on many lives.

Ann was born on March 21, 1925 in Canton Village, Canton, China to Tom and Lai Fong Hom. She met the love of her life, Herbert Wong, in 1947, and they married shortly after. They immigrated to California. They were happily married for 64 years until his death on July 21, 2011. Shortly after arriving to California, they started their family. Ann is survived by their children, daughter Pearl Moon (Vincent); daughter Lydia Prichard (Ron); son Raymond Wong; and daughter Jean Wong. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Heather, Kimberly, Alena, Belinda, Chad, Lisa, Tiffany, Ryan, Erik, Kimberly and Kevin; and her ten great grandchildren. Ann is also survived by sister Mee Won Mah from Vancouver Canada; brother Mee Ding Hom from Savannah, Georgia; and brother Mee Gong Hom from Los Angeles, California.

Herbert and Ann both worked very hard in order to provide a comfortable life for their four children. They ran their own restaurant businesses in Kansas, first in Wichita (China Village), then McPherson (Friends Kitchen) and finally Great Bend (Holiday Inn Restaurant). On their days off, they spent "family time," together, which holds a lot of wonderful memories for their children.

Ann had many interests. My, how she loved sewing. She made her kids clothes from the time they were babies to the time they were in middle school, when she went back to the restaurant business. She also loved gardening. The garden was one of her favorite places to be. She grew many kinds of vegetables and flowers. And then there was cooking Her love of cooking showed in every meal she made. As her husband said, she could take a few simple ingredients and turn it into a delicious meal.
