Mae Helen Washington was born March 10, 1942, and she departed this life on October 2, 2025. Mae Helen was born to the union of Henry and Ozie Pondexter in Emmett, AR. She was the youngest of 9 children.

Mae Helen moved to Wichita, KS in 1954 and worked for USD 259 for over 35 years where she retired. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting, gardening, traveling and decorating for the holidays.

Mae Helen is survived by daughters. Peggy (Robert) Noble, Fredrica Dempsey, and JoAnn Rogers, one son Charles, two sisters Betty Pondexter and Esselene Witcher, 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 10 great great-grandchildren and one special daughter Victoria Hall.

She is preceded in death by her spouse Luther Washington, father Henry Pondexter, mother Ozie Pondexter, daughters Helen Jean, Annette Davis and Glenda Washinton, grandson Derrick Bumphus, great grandson Magic Jamerson Jr., three sisters and three brothers.

Visitation will be held at Old Mission Mortuary Monday, October 13, 2025, at 11:00AM immediately followed by funeral services at 1:00PM also at Old Mission Mortuary.
