Mable Mae (Colbert) Burks was born June 17, 1934 in Purcell, Oklahoma to Charles Colbert and Eula Mae Dobbins. Mable attended Booker T. Washington High School in Purcell, Oklahoma where she was a member of the basketball team. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Purcell, Oklahoma.

In 1952 Mable relocated to Wichita, Kansas, where her career involved working for the Better Book Room, catering for the Optimist Club, Nanny, Wichita Marriott Hotel, in addition to working as a Home Health Care Aide with Pro Active Home Health where she retired.

Mable was well known for her amazing cooking; she was a faithful University of Kansas Jayhawk basketball fan, and enjoyed gardening and shopping but most importantly, she loved being a devoted Mom and Gran. She was the president of the Champagne Ladies Social Club where they participated in a variety of community service in the city of Wichita.

Mable was preceded in death by Eula Mae Dobbins (mother); Walter Dobbins (father); Annabelle Cook (sister); Joe Carter (brother); Alvin Colbert (brother); Edward Dobbins (brother).

She leaves to cherish the memories of her life, love and legacy: 10 children Brent Colbert, Tommy Colbert, John Bruce (Shawn); Marcia Wiley (Bobbie); Donnie Brown (Geneva); Daphne Lynch (Kevin); Karen Mills (Ronald); Lynn Beadles (Keith); Krissy Reddins and Jermaine Colbert. She also has twenty-two grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of great friends.
