Leona Martha Chapman, one of eleven children born to Charles and Mary (Darwish) Taylor, was born on April 26, 1919 in Bloomington, Illinois. She died on November 14, 2008 at the age of 89 years. Leona was playful at heart with a contagious laugh and sense of humor. She enjoyed life with her family and friends and valued the memories and moments with all.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson; a daughter, Debra; four brothers and four sisters.
She will be remembered and loved forever by her daughter and son-in=-law, Christine and Tom Russell; grandchildren, Matthew and Sara Russell, Phillip Russell; sisters, Pauline Skaff and Elaine Otwell.
Visitation will begin Monday, November 17, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Old Mission Mortuary.
Celebration of life will follow at 1:30 p.m. also at Old Mission Mortuary.
Interment at Old Mission Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
