Leo was born March 13, 1915 in Smith County, Mississippi. Her parents were Wesley and Mary (Davis) Mangum. Her mother passed away when she was only 12 years old. Leo had 9 siblings, one of which was her twin Ceo, who she loved dearly. Ceo passed away at age 79. Leo was the last of the 9 children to leave this earth.

Leo moved to Wichita in 1944 where she met Ambrose Denayer at St. Francis Hospital while she working as an LPN in 1948, They were married in 1950. The couple had one son, Delbert born July 17, 1952. Her husband Ambrose passed away in 1980. Leo is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and Diane; four grandchildren Julie Ramsdale, Kelcey Denayer, Justin Denayer and Corey Denayer; five great-grandchildren Zachary and Andrew Nuessen, Isaac Denayer and Zachary & Emma Ludolph.
