IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lawrence
Rushing
July 18, 1967 – June 13, 2023
Lawrence "Larry" Rushing, was born in Fairfield, California on July 18, 1967 to Rudy and Catherine "Kitty" Rushing. He passed away at the age of 55 in Wichita, Kansas on June 13, 2023.
Larry worked for Boeing/Spirit for over 30 years and he refused to stop working, he would often say "I may have lost my legs but I'm not disabled and I will support my family."
Larry was a man of adventure and was always looking to try new things, He enjoyed playing the guitar, collecting and shooting guns, building and racing drag cars, and when he could no longer race drag cars he started building and "racing" R/C cars. Larry longed for another motorcycle, he was fearless.
Larry loved classic Rock and was a huge fan of Eddie Van Halen and Sammy Hagar. When Larry was 16 years old he played the bass guitar in a rock band "Burning Axe". His mother would have to sneak him into venues to preform since he was underage.
Larry was a grumpy teddy bear and loved his family more than life itself. He showed his love through his strong work ethic, giving nature, and by thoroughly intimidating his daughters' boyfriends. Larry was a friend to all who knew him and he never knew a stranger. He was caring, compassionate, and would give the shirt off his back for those in need. It was Larry's wish to be an organ donor and through his generous gift to Midwest Transplant Network he will continue to enhance the lives of others.
Larry is survived by his wife, Patricia "Trish" Rushing; children, Nicole (Christopher) Schroeder, Morgan (Geoff) Anderson, Taya Rushing and Sean Rushing; grandchildren, Talia and Stella Anderson, siblings, Durelle Gabbard, Troy (Kim) Rushing, Deborah (David) Sanders; numerous nieces and nephews; and a loving extended family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Catherine "Kitty" Rushing.
A memorial celebration of Larry's life will take place at 10:00am, Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at Old Mission Chapel, 3424 E 21st Street North, Wichita, KS 67208.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Larry's name has been established with Peeples Orthotics & Prosthetics, 5400 Central Ave #120, Wichita, KS 67208. All donations will go to help those who don't have the ability to pay for orthotics to receive the gift of mobility
