Obituary

Kurt McClanahan, of Wichita, Kansas, founder of the MG (McClanahan - Garrett) Foundation Scholarship Fund, U.S. Navy Veteran, and devoted Nebraska Cornhusker football fan, went home to his Heavenly Father on November 1, 2025.

Kurt leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 11 years, Schar (Garrett) McClanahan of Wichita,  Kansas; son, T'Zion Fears-Perez of Tennessee; his  mother, Karen McClanahan of Lincoln, Nebraska; and his siblings — sister, Cara Loken (John) of Denton, Nebraska; brother, Ryan McClanahan (Shannon); and sister, Jeni Wilkison (Darin), both of Lincoln, Nebraska.

He is also survived by his in-laws, all of Wichita, Kansas: his mother-in-law, LaRue Garrett; sister-in-law, Markeyla Barry; and brothers-in-law, Rev. Larry Garrett Jr. (Shirley) and Jamal Garrett Sr. (Angie), and a host of nieces and nephews residing in both Nebraska and Kansas.

Kurt was preceded in death by his brother, Mark McClanahan and his father-in-law, Larry Garrett Sr.

Kurt's life was defined by his faith, service, and love for family and community. His legacy will continue through the lives he touched.

To honor Kurt's memory, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 10am at Anchor of Hope Baptist Church, 2231 W McCormick St, Wichita, Kansas.
