Jerald "Jerry" Allen Laughary age 86, passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 3, 2019 at Forsyth Nursing and Rehab. He was born on December 26, 1932 in Forsyth, Missouri to Isaac Newton Laughary and Annie Lee (Day) Laughary. From his birth to his death he nourished those around him with love, laughter, faith, and music. This led to him having many special people in his life. He married Ethelyn Rose (Nichols) Laughary and they had four beautiful daughters together. He spent three years serving his country in the army then proceeded to serve his community as a firefighter in Wichita, Kansas for 31 years, retiring in 1985 as Division Chief. Much of his time thereafter was spent exploring the country on motorcycles with his beloved wife or writing, singing, and playing various tunes on a variety of instruments. He also enjoyed spending much of his time with his family throughout his life. He will be remembered for his bravery, warm heart, strength, sense of humor, and uncanny ability to tell stories (of which he had many). He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; daughter, Valerie; and granddaughter, Michelle. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ethelyn residing in Forsyth, MO; daughter, Patricia Bugner and her husband, Steve residing in Wichita, KS; daughter, Janet Slates residing in Wichita, KS; daughter, Debra Stiffler-Watson and her husband, Eric residing in Forsyth, MO; 11 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
