J.D. Botkin, 90, retired Examination Branch Chief with Internal Revenue Service died April 6, 2014. J.D. served in the Army Combat Engineers. He enlisted June 1942 as a Private and was commissioned in March 1943 as a 2nd Lt. Five days later, he was ordered overseas and served 31 months in the Salomons, Philippines and Japan. He stayed in the Active Reserves for 19 years and retired as a Major. He entered I.R.S. in Jan. 1951 and he graduated at K.U. in June 1949 with a degree in Economics. He retired from the I.R.S. in 1980.. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley. He is survived by daughters, Katherine and Susan Botkin.
