His survivors include mother Liza Chavez; daughters, Yesenia Hernandez, Arianna Gonzalez and Leiliana Gonzalez; sisters, Jessica (Jeff) Sanchez, Danielle Chavez and Mireya (Jose) Chavez. Javier is preceded in death by his brother Marcus Chavez and Aunt Leticia Piedra.
