IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James
Morrison
December 6, 1922 – July 23, 2021
James Clifford Morrison (98) passed away on July 23, 2021 from Covid. After surviving Cancer, a quadruple heart attack, gallbladder failure, and having lost almost 100% of his hearing and eye sight. Papa had been surviving for years with the soul purpose of taking care of grandma. He is survived by the love of life, his wife Naomi J. Morrison. They were married April 6th, 1958. Preceding him in death is his father (William Morrison) in 1930, his step father ("Red"Daniel) in 1987, and his son (Kenneth Morison) and mother (Pauline "babe" Daniel) both in 1989. And many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his step-daughter Deanna Murphy (Wichita), grand-daughters Dawn Murphy (Wichita) and Desiree Palmer (Rick Palmer, Wichita). His great grand children (Lillian Palmer, Montgomery Murphy, and Eleanor Palmer.) How do you put in words the life of an amazing man who lived almost 100 years. Papa (Jimmy) was born in Pittsburg Kansas and shortly moved to Pitcher Oklahoma because of his father's passing. He grew up in pitcher living with his grandmother and family. They were a poor family in a very poor town but through it all he excelled. Jim became a very good trumpeter and left to join the army. Even when he was offered what some would say a cushy position as part of the Military band he wanted to be on the front line. He took part in many battles as a soldier in the army air core. There wasn't an air force back then. He took that experience in the military and used his G.I. Bill to go to college earning a bachelors degree from Wichita State before joining the Boeing company for over 25 years. Jim was so appreciated when he retired they wrote "higher on the spot" on his exit interview because he was such a wonderful employee. He also was the leader of a band called Jimmy Morrison and Orchestra who some even remember today all these years later. Grandma grandpa had other business as a hotel owner, and top distributor with a vitamin company, to mention a few. After he retired from Boeing he and grandma started a daycare center in West Wichita called West Street Toy Box it was one of the premier daycare's in Wichita while it was still around. It ran for over 40 years and the last few were ran by their granddaughter Dawn. His love, kindness, and consideration was shown not only to the children of the daycare but to his entire family who by all rights he had no reason to be as wonderful to as he was. His own son had passed away but he had been a father to Dee, Naomi's daughter, since 1958 he then became a father to her daughters Dawn and Desiree and became a father to their children years later. Each and every time giving all he had for their happiness. Desiree counts the last few years of his life as some of her most blessed because she was able to care for and give a little back to the man who had been so much to their family. Anyone who knows Jim knows that his greatest priority was always Naomi. These two share a love greater and stronger than many will ever know. His love and presence, and sharer of life's lessons will be missed by us all.
