Jake E. Ehrlich passed away July 18 , 2018 in Delaware, Oklahoma. He was born Sept. 16th 1925 as the first child to John & Hannah (Meier) Ehrlich in Shattuck Oklahoma. He was raised and educated in Shattuck. On Feb. 17th 1944 at the age of 18 he was drafted into the Army company "G" 346th Infantry 87th division, serving in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged on April 9th 1946.
after his service he returned home to Shattuck where he worked as a farm hand for several years before he moved to Wichita, Kansas. Jake started a career with Boeing aviation, becoming a lead man and then a supervisor. He received multiple awards & certificates for his dedication and work with Boeing retiring after 33 yrs. Jake was also a farmer and a rancher. He married Margaret McConnell on July 18th 1959. They enjoyed 29 years of marriage before her passing in 1988. He then married Alta Reed on June 3rd 1989. And spent 28 yrs of marriage with her before her passing in Jan 2018. Jake moved from Kansas to Texas and spent time there for several years before moving to Delaware, Oklahoma where he made his home for the past 20 years. Jake loved children, to spend his time outdoors and in his garden. Jake got what he called a ' chance of a lifetime' in November 2017 he was invited to go on the 'honor flight' to visit Washington D.C. and the veterans memorials. He told everyone about getting to take his longtime friends Michael and Robin Moreland with him on his first big jet trip on a plane he helped build. Jake is preceded by his 2 wives, Margaret & Alta, a son Michael Jay Ehrlich, his parents Hannah & John Ehrlich; a brother, Harry Ehrlich and a sister, Allene Albert. He is survived by a daughter, Janet Kelly, a son, Mark Ehrlich; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; a sister, Lavita Doughtery; brothers, Ralph Ehrlich, Bill Ehrlich, Leo Ehrlich; along with other relatives & friends. Jake will be greatly missed for his conversation, wisdom, knowledge and stories that he could tell.
