IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Isabelle V
Mason
January 13, 1929 – February 4, 2023
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. Psalm
121:1-2 KJV
"Grandma Baby"
Isabelle Vonicille Enoch was born in Paris, Arkansas, on January 13, 1929, to George
Enoch and Dora Barker. Isabelle was the eldest child of ten. She graduated from Morris-
Booker School in Dermont, Arkansas as the class valedictorian.
After receiving her diploma, Isabelle returned to Paris, Arkansas, where she wed John D.
Burton. Three children were born to the couple: John D. Burton Jr. (who died as an infant),
Linda Burton Daniels, and Jacqueline Burton Smith. Eventually, the union was dissolved.
Isabelle and her two children consequently relocated to McAllister, Oklahoma. She lived
with Minnie, her grandmother. During her time there, she met and wed L.C. Mason. They
moved to Wichita, Kansas, where they resided for 67 years until his passing. She began
working at the Phyllis Wheatley children's home in the early 1960s, where she enjoyed
working with children of all ages.
Isabelle enjoyed cooking, entertaining, playing cards, traveling, and gardening. She always
had an enormous capacity for caring for and feeding others. She was a former member of
the Order of the Eastern Star Kansas.
Now, Isabelle has joined her ancestors: her parents: George Enoch & Dora Agnew. Her
husband: Mr. L.C. Mason. Four brothers: Charles Agnew, Eugene Agnew, Bill Agnew, and
Guy Agnew. Two sisters: Joyce Watson and Vivian Boston. Great-granddaughter: Tiara
Heckard.
Isabelle leaves her daughters, Linda Daniels and Jacqueline Smith, to cherish her memory.
Grandson: Chaplain Anthony D. Allen, M.Div., BCC-MH; Granddaughters: Cassandra
Harris, Angela Crigler, Tonette (Collins) Nash, and Ceslie Smith. Five grandchildren, eight
great-grandchildren, and sixteen great-great-grandchildren. Brother: Leonard Agnew.
Sisters: Betty Bates and Minnie McGill. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Isabelle cherished her family and will be missed dearly. We love you, Mother, Grandmother, Great-
grandmother & Great-Great-grandmother.
