Henry Vernon Backes Jr.

On Sunday, October 31, 2021, Henry Vernon Backes Jr., father of 5 children, passed away at the age of 82.

He was born in Wichita, Kansas on February 14, 1939 at Wesley Hospital and died on October 31, 2021 in Wichita, Kansas in his home. Henry graduated from Wichita East High, then served in the Army during the Vietnam War as a photographer. Henry had a passion for hybridizing various types of flowers and photography. He also had a collection of model trains cars and built detailed railroads.

Henry was preceded in death by his father, Henry Backes Sr, and his mother, Hendrika (Maggie) Inkelaar Backes, spouse Sandra K Hardesty Backes, brothers Michael and Donald Backes, son Aaron John Backes, daughter Elizabeth Warren. He is survived by his children, Henry V. Backes the III, Gerry Lynn Warren Ferguson, David Warren, Mathew Bradley Backes, Mathew Lewis Warren, Sarah Backes Lahman ,and Benjamin Backes, his siblings Pat Harink, Judy Hampton and Betty Backes, and thirteen grandchildren. The memorial service will be on November 6th 10 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 7834 West 29th St N, Wichita, KS
