Gregory Scott Owings, 54, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 29,2008. He passed away with family at his bedside after a long battle with cancer. He was born September 17, 1954 in Wichita, graduated from South High School, and attended Wichita State University.
Greg retired from Boeing after thirty years commitment to the aircraft industry at which time he pursued his dream of being a cattle rancher. He founded and then operated The Owings Oil and Cattle Company. In addition to numerous recognitions for excellence and innovation in aircraft Greg was honored to serce as a "Kansas Award for Excellence" Examiner as well as the Board of Directors for both the YMCA and Wichita Jaycee's.
Preceded in death by his parents Gene and Margaret Owings.
Survived by; Mary Owings; four children, Sherri Hueser, Brett & Scott Owings, Kali Kerr; siblings, Barbara Janci, Chery Young, Pam Lamar, Brian & David Owings; twelve grandchildren; nineteen nieces and nephews.
Viewing and visitation will be Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Old Mission Mortuary, 3424 East 21st Street, Wichita, Kansas.
Services also at Old Mission Mortuary Chapel Saturday, November 1, at 10:30 a.m.
