On Friday, November 22, 2019, Gary D. Mellington Sr., loving father of 5, grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather to 1 with 2 more on the way, passed away at the age of 76.
Gary was born on December 14, 1942 in Wichita, KS to Arthur and Ella (Allen) Mellington. He graduated from Wichita North High School in 1960. He joined the U.S. Army on June 20, 1961 and obtained his honorable discharge on June 19, 1964.
Gary loved reading and crossword puzzles. He was the biggest fan of western movies and could probably recite every John Wayne movie word for word. He loved his Dodgers (LA & Brooklyn) and his Kansas City Chiefs.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ella, his sister Beverly Williams, and brothers Robert (Bob), Clinton and Ronald (Ronnie). He is survived by his children, sons Gary Jr and Ed, daughters Gayle (Gary) Tabor, Kelley (Scott) Church, Kari (Keith) Howard and Geri (Oscar) Gonzalez, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Bennie, sister-in-law Linda, and numerous nieces and nephews.
