Obituary

On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, Gary Booher, age 86, of Wichita, KS, passed away and entered eternal life with Jesus. He is survived by his wife Loyce Sansing Booher, his son and daughter-in-law Tom and Karen Booher, their two children Savanna and Justin Booher, his daughter Kathleen Booher, his step daughters Bobbie Knoblauch and Frankie Jones, his grandchildren Phillip Shellhammer, Benny Knoblauch, Amy Donnell, and great grandchildren Jacob and Brenna Shellhammer, and many other beloved extended family members. He was proceeded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Shelhorn Booher, his brothers Kenny and Larry Booher, his mother and father Allen and Mabel Booher.

As a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, he has served the church, congregation and community in many capacities. He was a kind and generous servant, touching the lives of everyone he met.

He loved working as a liaison engineer at Boeing for over 35 years and Learjet for over 10 years. His most significant accomplishment was his engineering supervisory role on Air Force One. He was a well-respected leader and mentor in the Aerospace Industry.

He proudly served our country in the US Army, from 1958 to 1964.

He was a strong supporter of his family and their many activities at church, school and in the community, even serving as coach to enable them to play sports. He especially enjoyed the many years with his grandchildren and watching them grow into young adults. They brought him so much joy over the years.

Gary has been a blessing, a true servant of God, living his life as an example of love, patience, kindness, integrity, generosity and laughter. He will forever live in our hearts.

The family is holding a private grave side service. A public memorial service will be scheduled later in the year.
