Garie( Layla) R. Joy passed away peacefully on January 30, 2021 at age 69 in Wichita KS. She was born on October 23, 1951 in Wichita. Layla was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Hamilton and Eva Maxine (Posey) Joy and one son, Jesse Joy. She is survived by her spouse Carol A. Joy of Andover KS and brother Gregg and wife Christine Joy of Garden City. She is also survived by sons Jeff of Park City and Paul and wife Shanna of Lee's Summit, Missouri and daughter Lisa Joy Marin and husband Matthew of Wichita. Layla enjoyed her four grandchildren, Sadie, Jeremiah and Jayden Joy and Kevan Dragoo Marin. After graduating from Wichita Southeast High School in 1969, she spent a little time in the Navy, stationed in California before moving back to Wichita. She started working for Beech in 1974 before being accepted to the IBEW and starting her electrician apprenticeship. After some time working for the union in Holcomb and Garden City, Kansas she settled back in Wichita at Boeing in 1984, retiring in October 2016. Layla was an avid enthusiast of cars and remote control hobby planes. At one time she coached softball and performed puppet shows for kids in Sunday School.
