Frances Melvin Coody-Rowe, 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Wichita surrounded by her family on May 17, 2017. She was an only child born January 22, 1927 on a farm in Wewoka, OK to Redmond and Cora (Noble) Coody. Due to the early deaths of her parents, Frances was raised by her grandparents, Papa Nero and Mama Rachel Noble. Frances attended schools in Wewoka, OK, graduating from Douglas High School in 1939 and graduated with a B.S in nursing from General Hospital #2 in Kansas City, MO.Frances enjoyed her occupation as a nurse for many years at McConnell Air Force Base, Veteran's Administration, and as a Private Duty nurse for older adults in Wichita. She is survived by her children, Luellic (Lew) Rowe, Shirley Salisbury (Edward), Mamie Atkinson (Charles) Carol Rowe-Jones (Waymon) and Judy McDaniel; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Old Mission Mortuary with burial in Old Mission Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday 1 hour prior to service.
