Evelyn Darlene Mason passed away November 24 surrounded by family.  Preceded in death by her parents, Solomon Wilson and Minerva Wilson Duty, her husband of 60 years, Harvey Mason, and her two sisters, Donna Jeanne Ritter and Carolyn Sue Ritter. She is survived by daughters, Diana Mark (Randy) and Danell Oxler (Mark), grandchildren Aaron Mark, Gretchen Postiglione, Emily Scott, Gus Oxler and Fred Oxler, great-grandchildren Solomon, Francesca, Dominic, Coletti, Wilson, Gio, Ellie Lou, Vinnie, Anderson, Jacob, and brother Dennis Duty of Wichita, and sister Shirley Hampton of Oklahoma City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends.

Darlene was born and raised in Wichita and graduated from Wichita East High School in 1950.  She retired from the Census Bureau as a Field Representative, where she was awarded the 1985 Department of Commerce Bronze Medal Award for superior service. Her talents of cooking and sewing were passed on to many grandchildren and nieces, who learned from "the best" by sitting at her elbow and assisting her. She was a beloved Girl Scout leader and mentor, who took a troop of girls from 2 nd grade to graduation. She was an active member of the K-State Extension Homemakers Unit (EHU) and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was a generous caregiver to multiple friends and family members and was a selfless person who touched all she encountered and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Services will be held at Old Mission Mortuary on Wednesday, December 1, 10:00 a.m.
