Obituary

Eric Dean Grey, beloved father, spouse, brother and friend left this earth to join his mother, father and grandparents on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

He is survived by his children, Landen, Emalee, Samuel and Kai (Alexander); his partner in life Amber; his big sister Melissa, nephew Terry Jr, and nieces Tiara (DeAngelo, KaMyiah and Kiaya), Tarika (Amoura), and Ireland; his Uncle Darrick, and cousins Heidi and Nathen; former spouse Megan and several "adopted' family members and close friends.

Eric was born on September 9, 1985, in Wichita Kansas at Wesley Medical Center. His mother Charmaine & his father Garry were elated to welcome him into the world, and his big sister Melissa was over the moon to finally have a baby brother.

He later moved to Topeka Kansas with his mother & sister, stepfather Steve, and stepsister Cheryl. Not many years after, he again moved with his mother to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It wasn't long after that that he moved to Kansas City, Kansas to live with his big sister.

Eric joined the Army in 2003 at 18 years old and was proud to be able to serve our country at such a young age. While in service, Eric learned his potential, and that stuck with him until the right time, when he moved back to Oklahoma City, met Megan, and became a father to his eldest son Landen in 2007. He devoted his energy to making sure his 1st child would become a man he would be proud of. Not long after, his daughter Emalee was born in 2009, and he was equally proud to instill in her the same qualities.

In 2014 Eric met the love of his life, Amber. They fit together better than peas and carrots. They blended their family, and Kai, Landen and Emalee began life together as siblings with Eric and Amber. While it wasn't always easy, they strived to provide and protect their children with love and care, along with a couple of kicks in the butt along the way, but more so with strength and support for each other always no matter what life served them, and that fact can never be argued.

In 2017, much to everyone's surprise, Eric and Amber's son Samuel was born. Eric was bursting with pride that he now had not 1 but 2 sons to carry on his name. Samuel was a gift to all of us and made their family complete. No one could ever doubt that Eric was Sam's best friend and if you saw them together, you just knew.

A single day after Sam was born, Eric joined AAA to become a tow truck driver, which turned out to be his calling. It was no secret he loved towing, and if he ever came to your rescue in his big truck, you never had anything to worry about, for you were in good hands.

Eric liked to hit the driving range with Samuel, golfing with his work friends, fishing, and playing online video games with friends from all over the world. Eric was the biggest goofball, and if you know, you know. From shoving his giant frame into the smallest cars which is still and will always be hilarious, he would do everything he could to make people laugh, even when all they wanted to do was cry. He hated to see others in any kind of physical or emotional pain and strived to ease it, even if only temporarily. He had the biggest heart of all of us, both figuratively and literally. He did so many goofball things it's hard to find the right words to say. May we never forget the mini motorcycle he rode all over town and keep that picture in our minds.
