Emily Rose Dibbens, 34, of Andover, KS, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, July 3, 2021.
Emily was born in Arkansas City, KS on Friday, January 9, 1987, the daughter of Scott A. Mullins and Kathy Kaufman. She was raised in Wichita, KS. Emily graduated high school from Wichita Heights in 2005. She went on to graduate from Wichita State University in 2010 where she studied communicative disorders and sciences with the focus in audiology. Emily had a great interest in this field because of the many deaf family members she had.
Emily married the love of her life, Derek Dibbens on September 28, 2013. Together they shared one son, Bodie Ace Dibbens. Emily will be remembered as an incredible and devoted mother. Emily's love for Bodie was endless. She was so proud to be a mother after six challenging years of trying to start a family. Emily also led her life with a strong Christian devotion. Her faith powered her outlook after being diagnosed and treated for breast cancer. Her intention was to empower and inspire others through faith. Emily's biggest expressed desire for Derek is to teach Bodie to know and love Jesus.
Emily is survived by her husband, Derek Dibbens and their one-year-old son, Bodie Ace Dibbens of Andover, KS. Her mother, Kathy (Eric) Kaufman. Sister, Lindsay (Carlos) Carbajal. Stepsister, Brandi (Kelly Lare) Kaufman. Stepbrother Evan (Shannon) Kaufman. Nieces; Maci, Grace, and Anna. Nephews; Camryn, Tony, Jett, Elias, Rhys and Ethan. All residing in the Wichita metro area.
Emily and Derek were always the first to arrive and last to leave at family gatherings. Emily loved spending time with family. She especially loved babysitting her nieces and nephews. She was also very passionate about playing cards and games with family, watching movies, music, drinking hot tea, singing, and nurturing her relationship with Jesus Christ.
Emily is preceded in death by her father, Scott A. Mullins of Wichita, KS. Her grandparents, Russel and Barbara Mullins of Wichita, KS and Billy and Mary Gildhouse of Arkansas City, KS.
The memorial funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 16, 2021, at NewSpring Church. Mark Hoover of NewSpring Church will be officiating. There will be a celebration of life in Wichita on July 16th at 6:00 P.M. It will be at the home of Eric and Kathy Kaufman. Please reach out to family for the address.
